Front of quilt

“This doesn’t look like a Log Cabin! “, you might say. Technically, it isn’t, although the blocks were constructed in much the same way. The full name of this quilt was “265-165-0 and 128-0-108 – (Orange and Purple) Free-spirited Log Cabin”. It was made for my son’s “free-spirited” teacher who he had for three years. The numbers correspond to the RGB color chart for Orange and Purple. Guess what her favorite colors are? (Yep, orange and purple!) Lots of double meaning here…
The basis for this quilt was “High Five” by Amanda Jean Nyberg in Sunday Morning Quilts. (This is a great reference, especially if you are a scrap saver who needs to do something constructive with their stockpiled odds and ends.) It appealed to me because I had a couple Kaffe Fassett Jelly Rolls (2 1/2 strips) and a Kaffe Fassett Charm pack that I raided to make this quilt. I still had to purchase lots of orange fabric and a few Fat Quarters to finish up the top. Oh, and don’t forget the back – it’s by Kaffe as well:
